PROGRAM DETAILS
Age Restrictions | Program placement is based on the player’s gender and birth year. Please see the available age groups, organized by season, below. |
Team Formation |
Players will be placed on gender-specific teams based on their residential district/school location. Other factors in team placement include date of registration and any special request made by parents. Players will be contacted by mid-August for Fall play and mid-March for Spring play, by their assigned coach, with seasonal information. Please contact the Jr Academy Registrar with any questions or concerns in regards to team formation. |
Session Format | The first half of each session is devoted to skills and the second half of each session consists of a coach-facilitated scrimmage against another team at your location. These scrimmages are usually 4 vs 4 or 3 v 3 on a small field, with the coaches serving as referees and also teaching the basic rules of the game. At this age group, we are introducing the concepts of field boundaries, passing, shooting and teamwork. |
Uniform / Equipment | Coaches will distribute an Under Armour jersey and socks to players. No shorts are provided. Parents are expected to provide for their children: shorts, a size 3 soccer ball, a quart size water bottle, shin guards, and appropriate footwear (soccer cleats are optional). |

SAC/BA COVID Guidelines
Face Coverings In conjunction with Howard County and MD State mandate changes, masks will no longer be required for outdoor club events at Covenant Park or any other Howard County Rec and Park or Howard County owned fields – including, but not limited to, games and practices. This extends to players, coaches, spectators and referees. Any teams traveling out of Howard County for club events are still expected to follow the policies/mandates of the local jurisdiction. We do, however, still recommend and encourage all individuals who are not fully vaccinated and/or any fully vaccinated individuals who would feel more comfortable, to continue to wear their masks and maintain safe social distancing, per CDC guidelines. |
